2006 Season

The 2006 Season has surpassed all our expectations. The season started out with a huge bang as Travis and many of the other drivers participated in the Nascar weekend in Dallas during April 2006. We camped out at Texas Motor Speedway for 5 days. Travis raced on Saturday Night after the Busch series race on the Little Texas Speedway . On Sunday morning we pulled our race trailer into the Busch Garage area and Travis and the other Bandolero drivers participated in the opening ceremonies for the Nextel Cup Race.

The drivers participated in a parade lap and were introduced to the fans. They raced on the 1/4 mile track inside Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday after the Nextel Cup Race. It was a great weekend - we had a blast!

Special thanks to Racing 600 for inviting us to participate in a great racing weekend. We look forward to racing again during the Nextel Cup Race in November, so if your at the race that weekend look for Wild West Racing. In his 1st year on asphalt Travis has had 3 podiums in the 2006 season.

He has posted 2 - 3rd place finishes and on September 2nd he finished 1st! What a night it was - The "Tornado" lead the race from start to finish. We are so proud of him. It was a huge success for the whole racing team as months of work came together in one great night!!

We will be racing the Winter series at Houston Motorsports Park and look forward to competing for the Bandolero Championship in 2007.

2003 Season

2003 season: Travis wins the "MINI DWARF CHAMPIONSHIP". What a great season it has been!

2003 is our 3rd season of racing. 2003 started with a huge bang. In January 2003 Wild West Racing secured a contract with the United States Hot Rod Association to perform 3 exhibition races in Reliant Stadium with the Monster Trucks. What a great time we all had. T.J. and the other drivers signed autographs and raced in front of 50,000 fans. T.J. got to meet his favorite Monster Truck drivers and spent alot of time with them. A special thank you goes out to all the Drivers and to Howard Soufield & Brian Welch of the USHRA for letting us a be a part of a great organization.

In March 2003 the Mini Dwarfs participated in a race at East Texas Fasttrack in Livingston to raise funds for "Camp for All", which is an organization that provides a summer camp for children with various life threatening illnesses. Some of the kids from the camp came out to the race track to meet the drivers and enjoy the races - we are very proud to have been a part of the show. Special thanks to Ronnie Drew of East Texas Fasttrack for inviting us to participate. We hope to make it an annual event.

In May 2003 the Mini Dwarfs participated in the 2nd annual "Baytown Civic Pride Childhood Cancer Picnic". A great time was had by all. We brought the racecars and trailers out to the picnic and enjoyed spending the day with these "special" kids. Special thanks to Mary & Danny Thompson for organizing the event for the Mini Dwarf Association.

The 2003 racing season has begun and we have made some major changes this year. Wild West Racing has now become a part of the Mini Dwarf Association which the Drivers and their families created to help organize our races and coordinate volunteer events that the Mini Dwarfs will be participating in this year. The Mini Dwarfs will now be racing at quite a few tracks throughout the 2003 season. Special thanks to Doug Day of Huffman Motorsports Park, Eugene & Gerald Trahan of Port Arthur, Ronnie Drew of Texas Fasttrack in Livingston, Graham Baker of Texas Motor Speedway (asphalt track) and Dwight Childs of Hilltop for allowing us to race at their tracks this year. As part of the association we will be keeping our own points series and will have our own banquet at the end of the year.

2002 Season

T.J. finished the 2002 season in 3rd place in the points series at Huffman Motorsports Park and also finished 3rd place in the Lone Star Burris Challenge. We had a great year and Travis has learned so much and his driving skills continue to improve with each year.

One of the highlights of the year was Travis first feature win which came on September 28, 2002 at Huffman Motorsports Park. What a thrill it was for Travis and the whole Wild West Racing team. All the hard work that has been done over the year was all well worth it when Travis came across the finish line in 1st place. The crowd response was overwhelming and we appreciate all the support of the families at HMP who shared that special night with us.

Another great moment in 2002 was in January when Travis and some of the other Mini Dwarf drivers were asked to put on a exhibition race along with the Monster Trucks in the Houston Astrodome which was put on by the United States Hot Rod Association. Travis and the other drivers participated in the autograph session, signing autographs for fans and then put on 2 exhibition races during the Monster Truck show. A special thank you goes out to Mike Ott and Dave Prater of the USHRA for allowing us to be a part of the Monster Truck shows.

2002 was a great season and we look forward to many more years to come.

2001 Season

T.J. "Tornado" Westell began racing in 2001 and was named Rookie of the Year for the Mini Dwarf - Division I. What a thrill that first year was. T.J. and the rest of the Wild West Racing crew, which is comprised of family members had a great year and learned so much valuable information. It was a great rookie season.
